Before you make a decision
A CRM can organise customer relationships, but software alone will not repair an unclear sales process. Before choosing a platform, decide what your team needs to record, who should act on it and how you will know the new system is useful. The featured video is published by a CRM vendor; treat it as an introduction rather than an independent product comparison.
Define one workflow to improve
Choose a concrete task, such as following up with new enquiries or handing a customer from sales to support. Describe how the task works today and where information gets lost. Use the same example when requesting demonstrations from different vendors.
Budget for implementation as well as licences
Include data cleaning, migration, configuration, integrations and training. Decide who will administer fields and permissions after launch. Ask which features require a higher tier or another product. Trial the workflow with a small team before committing the whole organisation.
Make adoption measurable
Agree on a small set of practical measures: whether follow-ups have an owner, whether records are complete enough to use and whether the team can find the information it needs. Avoid adding fields without a clear purpose. Review access permissions and export options before importing real customer data.
Your comparison worksheet
Bring these questions to the conversation
| Compare | Ask |
|---|---|
| Workflow | Can the team complete its actual daily tasks? |
| Data | Who cleans and imports existing records? |
| Implementation | What support and training are included? |
| Adoption | How will we measure useful usage? |
Your quick checklist
- Document the workflow the CRM should improve.
- Compare migration, training and integration costs.
- Pilot with a small team and realistic sample data.
- Agree on ownership, permissions and export needs.
